Table Rock
(Mark W. Winchester)
Perhaps the most recognizable figure among the Burke County landscape is Table Rock Mountain. Towering approximately 4,000 feet above sea level, Table Rock is situated on the eastern rim of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area and is part of the Pisgah National Forest. Known for it’s majestic views and wildflower laced trails, Table Rock plays host to thousands of hikers, rock climbers, and sightseers each year. Iconic Table Rock was the setting for the final scene in the 1990 motion picture, The Last of The Mohicans.
